Ensures Drainage District’s equipment, machinery and vehicles are operating in accordance with established standards. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Assists in repair of all departmental equipment and vehicles. Performs scheduled maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Conducts road tests on repaired equipment and vehicles. Inventories and orders parts as needed. Performs minor welding projects as needed. Instructs and/or assists other employees with their duties. Maintains records of repairs and maintenance preformed. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
High School Diploma/GED; Two years experience as Mechanic or Mechanic Helper. Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees and elected officials; ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner. Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair. Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Material Endorsement or must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Mechanic certification may be required.
SALARY RANGE: Operator/Skilled Trade Grade 7, $1,383.20 biweekly based on qualifications
