Promotes and provides public health services to the residents of Fort Bend County in the prevention and control of public health matters and communicable diseases. Participates in planning of programs, policies and objectives for work group and department.
Provides disease prevention measures to residents of Fort Bend County, such as immunizations, prenatal hepatitis B prevention and epidemiologic investigations, tuberculosis testing, and directly observed therapy (DOT). Monitors inventory and orders medications and supplies on a monthly basis or as needed. Transports medications and equipment as needed. Maintains records to document activities. Provides counseling to public regarding the prevention of disease. Conducts home visits to assess patients and to provide services such as administering medications as indicated. Collects fees and makes change; held financially accountable for cash collected. Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties. Recruit, train and provide support for doctor offices. Verify grant specifications are met. Using Video technology to observe TB patients taking their medications – Videos Directly Observed Therapy (VDOT). Assists Registered Nurses with HIV/STD screenings. TB Case registry and conducting TB contact investigations. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
High School Diploma/GED; Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Two or three years job related experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Reliable clinical judgement and the ability to work independently. Good verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials; Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Valid Texas Driver’s License and reliable transportation; Involves working one (sometimes up to two) Saturdays a month for four hours. May be required to work after hours due to community needs. This is a part-time position, PRN – AS NEEDED. There will not be Medical, Dental or Vision Insurance benefits offered.
SALARY: Part-Time $20.00/hour, up to 29 hours per week
