  • Overview

    Implements and maintains the Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist FBC in the collection, update, and distribution of geographic (digital) information.  Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.



    Manages and administers County’s enterprise GIS system (database and ArcGIS server).  Develops interactive GIS mapping websites using ESRI’s Flex or other available ESRI API.  Coordinates as central contact and administrator for all County departments ESRI software and licenses.  Provides supervision and management of the CAD technician/CAD activities.  Creates thematic maps and GIS data sets for County departments/engineers.  Facilitates GIS software training for County department staff and engineering staff and facilitates GIS data migration/sharing with other departments, throughout County and other agencies.  Formulates GIS budget, responsible for software and hardware upgrades.  Researches costs and recommends department expenditures for computer equipment.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.


    Bachelor’s Degree in Geography or GIS/Cartography or related field.  Two years of job related GIS experience.  Strong verbal and written communication, math, and organizational skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.  Valid Texas Driver’s License.


    SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 11, $1,860.80 - $2,189.60 biweekly based on qualifications
