Supervises the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) staff and provides technical direction, development, operations and maintenance of ITS data systems and software projects. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Supervises the daily activities of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) staff; Provides technical support and guidance when needed. Manages the development, installation, operation and maintenance of ITS software applications; Develops and maintains data applications, processes, architecture and procedures according to standards, including report development. Determines future needs of the department based on growth projections before they occur to ensure the department is not only able to sustain current levels of customer service offerings, but can continue expansion efforts as well; Requires ability to analyze various system offerings, determine interoperability and develop implementation plans that are within the scope and budget of funding mechanisms. Plans, schedules, and manages project activities for the deployment of major Intelligent Transportation Systems ensuring that the final product provides the best return on investment feasible. Reviews software functionality, system enhancements, and business practices/processes on a periodic basis in search of opportunities to modify business processes, enhance service offerings, and reduce operational costs. Collaborates with end users at all levels and reviews software functionality and personnel staffing on an on-going basis to identify new ways of capturing more accurate data, reducing operating costs and providing executive management with accurate operating statistics. Ensures that communication and data transmission systems between buses and back office function as effectively and efficiently as possible for both the productivity and safety of Operations staff. Manages relationships and negotiations with all vendors that provide software and services for the systems used by the Public Transportation department; Interface with external agencies, other transportation agencies and professional organizations for innovative solution design and implementation. Develops policies and processes for the selection, implementation, utilization, and maintenance of software systems across all levels of the organization; Develops, implements and oversees ITS equipment inventory and work order prioritization processes. Responds as necessary and when necessary during emergency events; Emergency events include bus or facility accidents or threats and/or other events involving safety, security or emergency management responses. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; Six years job related experience. Proven proficiency with both oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership, problem solving and management skills. Organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks a must. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 12, $2,154.40 - $2,534.40 biweekly based on qualifications
