Performs physical labor to build and maintain structures in the Drainage District’s maintained drainage channels. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Builds, installs and/or maintains bridges, low water crossings, watergates, drop inlet pipes, fences and similar structures in district’s maintained drainage channels. Operates light equipment, drives dump truck and winch truck, operates loader and fork lift when building or maintaining bridges or other structures. Builds fences and watergates; helps with and sets pipe when required. Pours concrete at low water crossings. Signs for and is held financially responsible for equipment issued. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
High School Diploma/GED; One year job related experience. Good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees; ability to follow instructions and complete assignment in a timely fashion. Requires understanding to carry out detailed instructions, complete printed forms and make notes. Must have the ability to swim and work at heights up to 25 feet. Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (or must be able to obtain within 89 days of employment).
SALARY RANGE: Operator/Skilled Trade, Grade 5, $1,167.20 biweekly based on qualifications
