  • Overview

    Operates heavy equipment in an efficient manner in order to complete construction and maintenance projects on drainage channels.  Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.  



    Installs inlet pipe and drainage structures along drainage channels.  Maintains assigned equipment on a scheduled basis.  Excavates creek and grades ditches and elevations.  Sets culverts and finishes concrete work.  Assists other departments with construction projects.  Serves as lead man and supervises a work crew on a project basis; checks work in progress, ensures priorities and standards are met.  Assists other employees with their duties; performs work of lower level positions as necessary.  Performs shop duties and duties of lower level positions as needed.  Held accountable for all equipment used and uniforms issued.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.



    High School Diploma/GED; Five years of related experience as an Equipment Operator.  Good driving skills, good verbal and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees; ability to understand and carry out instructions and complete assignment in a timely fashion; thorough knowledge of and ability to operate required heavy equipment; knowledge of road design and/or drainage channel design construction and maintenance.  Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License; Hazardous Material Endorsement; Herbicide and Insecticide Certification.


    SALARY: Operator/Skilled Trade Grade 8, $1,507.20 biweekly based on applicants qualifications
