Coordinates, implements, maintains and assists in supervising all department communications networks and equipment. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Provides technical support for computers, telephones, and radios, including minor repairs. Programs radio equipment for use on the county radio systems. Performs equipment and software changes to telephone network. Maintains system security of all computer and radio networks. Tests, evaluates and repairs radio and computer equipment. Trains users to operate various radio and computer equipment. Serves as liaison between department and other public agencies. Programs computer equipment as needed. Provides administrative assistance to management staff. Maintains inventory records of department equipment. Issues digital pagers and maintains inventory records of pagers issued. Coordinates annual training for division personnel. Answers emergency calls and dispatches patrol cars as needed. Requisitions supplies and recommends equipment expenditures. Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
High School Diploma/GED. One year technical school or specialized training in electronics and telecommunications. Two years job related experience. Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 40 WPM), working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, database. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with others. Management, organizational, and supervisory skills. Ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines and to prioritize own and others’ work. Working knowledge of DOS, Windows, PC Hardware and RS 600-AIX computer devices.
SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 10, $1,513.60 ($18.92 hourly) - $1,780.80 ($22.26 hourly) biweekly based on qualifications
