Responsible for implementation of the Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention and Control program. To include coordination of care, education regarding transmission and for appropriate treatment of patients and social network affected by tuberculosis (TB) disease. Participates in planning of programs, policies and objectives for work group and department. Missouri City Location - Grant Funded.
Ensures treatment regimen is appropriate for patients along with ensuring patient adherence to therapy via directly observed therapy (DOT). Ensures patient receives and follows up with medical evaluations and laboratory work. Ensures that contacts to TB cases and/or suspects are identified, located, prioritized, evaluated and treated to prevent the spread of tuberculosis disease. Ensures that the patient and social network receive and understand education of TB disease, transmission and treatment. Provides coordination of care by facilitating exchange of information between family, medical providers, laboratories, pharmacies and public health infrastructure; ensures expert consultation has been sought and provides referrals as needed. Seeks training, education, and resources regarding patient care. Assist other staff members as needed. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Associates degree in Nursing and State Certified Registered Nurse. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. One year experience in public or community health nursing. Good verbal and written communication, supervisory, and organizational skills, and the ability to deal effectively with the public, and other employees. Must provide own reliable transportation (and proof of insurance). First Aid/CPR certification and Defensive Driving must be completed within three months of hire date. May be required to work weekends and holidays. Bilingual – Read/Speak Spanish preferred. Missouri City Location - Grant Funded.
SALARY RANGE: Public Health Grade 11, $2,057.60 - $2,420.00 biweekly based on qualifications
