Oversees county fleet mechanics and the work they perform. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Oversees and supervises all shop employees. Performs repairs and maintenance of County vehicles. Performs repairs and maintenance of shop equipment. Maintains vehicle tire inventory. Trains new employees. Places orders for fuel delivery for the County bulk fuel site. Coordinates daily fuel deliveries to the County’s 8 fuel sites. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
High School Diploma/GED; Automotive Technology certificate. Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology preferred or 10 years job related experience in lieu of certificate or degree. Five years job related experience. Experience with all aspects of automotive diagnostics and repair, experience with the initiation and organization of projects. Excellent computer, verbal and written communications, management, supervisory, and organizational skills. Also excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. Proficiency in use of testing equipment. Experience with operating with budget constraints, able to work within strict time constraints. State inspector license.
SALARY RANGE: Operator/Skilled Trade Grade 10, $1,812.00 - $2,131.20 biweekly based on qualifications
