Responsible for collecting, maintaining and distributing GIS data, assisting customers in the design and preparation of cartographic products and geographic analysis, performing project needs assessments, and complying with quality control standards. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Maintains GIS county related features such as subdivisions, roads, benchmarks, address points, city limits, ETJs, etc. by acquiring necessary data, inputting information, checking data integrity, and tracking the status of all data received. Ensures data on FTP and/or Open Data site is current and accurate. Produces maps, exhibits, and geographic data analysis. Performs data collection, field assignments, and analysis for engineering studies and GIS projects. Maintains accurate, up-to-date metadata for feature classes. Provides support for system/application development and implementation. Develops geographic data, prepares reports and presentations, responds to inquiries from the public, and distributes data to internal and external customers as needed. Provides GIS support to both internal and external users for GIS applications, hardware, software and databases. Schedules and performs upgrades of desktop software for GIS users and install software service packs and patches as warranted. Assists with maintenance, customization, and technical support for applications. Maintains fluency in GIS software, professional practices and techniques. Performs in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision. Represents the County, Engineering Department, and/or GIS Division on regional/local committees or at user group meetings. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Bachelor’s degree in any field or Associate’s degree in GIS/Cartography, Geography or related field; (Bachelor’s degree in GIS preferred) or equivalent professional work experience. Job related GIS experience preferred. Strong verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Proficiency with ArcGIS 10 or higher required and experience with AutoCAD 2012 or higher desired. Selected applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in evaluating and inputting AutoCAD data, including the creation of a GIS feature from an AutoCAD drawing, creating a map using a template, and completing the analysis of geographic data as requested.
SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 9, $1,409.60 - $1,656.80 biweekly based on qualifications
