  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Staff Development and Training Manager, assists with training for all full-time and part-time library staff.  Works closely with the Staff Development and Training Manager to provide general and specialized training.  Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department. 

    Responsibilities

    Maintains general knowledge of system-wide library policies, procedures and resources, including general orientation, reference materials, online resources/databases, customer service, readers advisory, and up-to-date technology skills.  Assists Staff Development and Training Manager with development and conducting of training sessions for library staff to meet individual, departmental or system-wide needs.  Leads sessions in the absence of the Staff Development and Training Manager and as assigned.  Works with Staff Development and Training Manager to plan and implement the annual Staff Development Day.  Coordinates reservations of training space, ensures all necessary equipment is available and in good working condition.  Records and monitors staff participation and attendance at training programs.  Maintains monthly statistics.  Monitors library trends and new technologies to enhance staff development.  Other duties as assigned.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

    Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school with knowledge of current library practices and technologies.  No previous experience required.  Must be able to demonstrate end-user proficiency on computers; automated library systems, databases, Internet searching and other electronic resources.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, supervisory and organizational skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, administrators from both organizations and elected officials.  Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.  Requires weekend and evening work as assigned.

     

    SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 10, $1,513.60 - $1,780.80 biweekly based on qualifications
