Job Summary:

The Environmental Review Coordinator will assess projects for environmental compliance across federal, state, and local standards. This position is central to conducting environmental reviews for projects funded by the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) entitlement grants, disaster recovery programs, and other grant initiatives. This part-time position offers an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to gain valuable experience in the field of environmental review and NEPA compliance within a public setting. Ideal candidate will be detail-focused, highly organized, and adept in managing time and communicates effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the documentation and conduct environmental reviews according to HUD's NEPA guidelines and other applicable regulations.
  • Utilize HEROS for preparing environmental reviews and maintain detailed records and documentation for compliance tracking.
  • Review project proposals and plans to identify potential environmental impacts.
  • Coordinate with project coordinators, engineers, cities, and staff.
  • Track progress and deadlines of environmental reviews.
  • Maintain accurate and timely environmental review records.
  • Communicate environmental compliance updates during team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, GIS, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NEPA regulations, HUD environmental review requirements, and other pertinent environmental laws.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with environmental review software, particularly HEROS.
  • Excellent organizational ability, suited for both independent and collaborative work.
  • Experience with GIS mapping and ArcGIS proficiency is highly valued.
  • Should be familiar with review and analysis of census data, maps, and drawings.
  • Self-starter with the desire and willingness to take the lead on a task.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

 

Schedule and Compensation:

  • This part-time role offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to 29 hours of work per week.
  • This role will involve some fieldwork. Time is spent at the Fort Bend County Office and Home Office.
  • Salary is $27.72 per hour.
  • Since this is a part-time position, no benefits (medical, dental, vision) will be offered.

All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
