JOB SUMMARY:
The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced felony prosecutor, effective immediately. Applicants should be Texas licensed attorneys in good standing with at least three years of job-related experience, and should possess a thorough working knowledge of criminal prosecution and court procedure. The ideal candidate has extensive felony trial experience. The position handles the investigation and prosecution of criminal conduct categorized at the felony grade in the district courts. An applicant could be assigned to the general felony trial division, or a specialized division based on qualifications and experience.
Felony prosecutors are expected to review, investigate, prosecute and present cases to judges and grand juries, and conduct hearings and jury trials of criminal cases. Also counsel and train local law enforcement, prepare arrest and search warrants, research legal issues, negotiate plea bargains, coordinate victims and witnesses and prepare subpoenas, and are responsible for discovery production. Strong case evaluation, writing, and communication skills will be required as well as proficiency to provide education to grand jurors, law enforcement, and community members.
SALARY RANGE: Starting salary range begins at $101,504.00 annually. Bar dues and CLE are paid by the office. Relevant Texas Board of Legal Specialization certifications allow for additional compensation of $5,000 annually.
