JOB SUMMARY:

The Internship program is to help students gain experience in the workplace while furthering their education.  The Intern will assist with administrative and clerical support to the staff of the various Fort Bend County Offices in a temporary capacity.  The Intern will provide professional and technical services on projects, and provide customer services to the Offices throughout our diverse community.  This is an unpaid opportunity.

 

Responsibilities

  • This Intern position will assist staff and will have the opportunity to learn about the County’s Department and gain a valuable overview of the processes.
  • The Intern will assist with gathering, compiling, collecting, and documenting the essential data related to the Department and perform various other task in support of the Department’s goals and objectives.
  • Examines, verifies and inputs data into computer systems.
  • Researches and analyzes historical data.
  • May be asked to assist with duties such as: organizing, processing and distributing documents to appropriate locations, print and provide case index, ensure files are complete and in proper order at all times.
  • Assists with answering incoming telephone calls and responds to public, attorney or County inquiries or directs to appropriate person.
  • Prepares and scans documents with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Supports and assists department staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred. 
  • Minimum of sixteen years of age. 
  • Experience with word-processing, spreadsheets, database management, and internet programs/applications is required. 
  • Applicants must be detail-oriented and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as good organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other County employees, elected officials and co-workers. 
  • Self-starter skills. 
  • Must be flexible with regard to work assignment and location.

SALARY:  Volunteer - This is an unpaid/volunteer position for students

DURATION:  Up to 12 Weeks
